Fishing and Marking the Reindeer Calves
This is a five-day mountain tour with fishing in exclusive char lakes in the western part of the Sami district where the reindeer are staying during the summer. The reindeer herders are in the region to mark their calves in July. During that time it’s possible to accompany them and see how they do when they mark the calves. Since it’s often too hot for the reindeer to gather them in a reindeer coral during the day, it’s better to do so in the night. This is the perfect time of the year to work in the night, because of the bright nights.
Day 1
We start from Nikkaluokta to the lake where we will have our camp site.
Day 2-4
We will walk to different lakes in the nearby area. Hopefully we’ll be able to take part in the marking of the reindeer calves during one or several nights, depending on where the reindeer are.
Day 5
We’ll go fishing and then pack our things together.
