A dog sledding and igloo adventure in Swedish Lapland - Jokkmokkguiderna

The winter in Lapland is not as dark as many people think.
Experience the stars and the moon light reflecting in the white snow and maybe the Aurora Borealis magical shimmer dance over the sky. Get the feeling of being a musher in the wild forests of Lapland and spend a night in an igloo made by your self.
Welcome to a true winter adventure in Jokkmokk!

Day 1 – 2 Overnight tour with dog sled in the forests of Lapland.
We start at 10 AM from Jokkmokk with the dog teams and travel over snow white lakes and through snow covered forests towards a hut or a tipi tent where we will spend the night. When our stomachs are rumbling we prepare lunch over open fire.
During the afternoon/evening you will have the possibility to try snowshoe walking. Before we eat dinner we will take care and feed the huskies.
During this tour you will drive your own dog team of huskies and you will learn how to take care and handle sled dogs.
Day 2 we head back with our dog sleds towards civilization and will be back in Jokkmokk approx 15:00.
You will get a soft and relaxing evening at Hotel Jokkmokk with time to prepare for your coming snow adventure.
-Sauna and dinner in the restaurant.

Day 3 Build your own Igloo from pure snow.
After breakfast you will meet your Igloo guide. After a short car transfer we put on our wooden skies and ski out to the Igloo village.
It’s a special feeling to use the white snow that covers the ground as building material. Snow and only snow.
We use block of snow when we build up our igloo. It’s almost like an art and not easy to put together, but you will certainly make it with good cooperation. When we feel hungry we eat lunch by the fire. When have put the last block on the igloo we get together around the camp fire and eat dinner. The night is spent in your white dome shaped beauty- your home for the night. The silence in igloo will rock you to sleep.

Day 4 A new day rise in Igloo village.
A hot blackcurrant drink in a wooden cup and a wood heated sauna will give you a good start of a new day. After breakfast we go back to Jokkmokk, first by skies and later a short ride by car to Jokkmokk.
We guide you on sightseeing to Jokkmokks different handicraft shops and eat lunch together. Jokkmokk have a big variety of skilled local handicraftsmen.
We end the tour at Ajtte Swedish Mountain and Sami museum.
Departure in the evening.
