Dömans naturreservat

The nature reserve Döman is about 2.5 mil south of Piteå and about 9 km SE of Jävre in Piteå Kommun. The reserve includes the two islands Gråsjälen and döman located just south of Jävre-Sandön in Piteå inner archipelago. The reserve domain is approximately 74 hectares and was formed in 1997. Nearest Jävre-Sandön is Gråsjälen with a size of 6 ha.

The island is heavily influenced by stirred and the beaches are built largely out of gravel beach dykes and blocks box. It is therefore difficult to go ashore with larger boats. Parts of the island is covered by deciduous forest which is unaffected by forest, a rare sight in the present situation. A huge pine with an impressive arm works are majestically in the middle of the stock. Döman is over 9 ha and is as Gråsjälen sharp surge. The beaches are characterized by the beach dykes, stroke and blocks. Disembarkation is a difficult undertaking other than at the bridge and cottage situated on the western part of the island. To the bridge has a narrow dredged channel. Up on the island are two old fishing cottages, together with the sixty gistgårdsrösen found on the island, gossip on the island used as a fishing village in past times.
