Sit down in the restaurant at Ammarnäs Wärdshus.

Look out over the rivers and the mountains. Talk to the locals during lunch hours, or exchange stories over a tasty dinner, obviously made from local food, with other guests from all over the world. Chances are you’ll probably meet flyfishing enthusiasts, who can tell their Ammarnäs stories about grayling, trout and char, as big as you wish them to be. Or, they’ll tell you stories about other places, but they’re probably also going to tell you why they like it in Ammarnäs in particular.

If you’d like, you could go off on adventures, on your own or together with a guide from a local company. You can go off hiking or skiing on one of the nearby trails, leading straight into the nature reserve – that just so happens to be the largest protected area in northern Europe. Well, you’re in a place where the sky’s the limit: you can actually choose between discovering the surrounding landscapes from the horses’ back, the snowmobile or with a couple of snow shoes.

The primarily adventurous person, who travels lightly with their backpack and just wants a bed to rest in between, will find that hostel style bed at Ammarnäs Wärdshus. But if you want to combine your outdoor endeavors with high standard and comfort, there are also the newly renovated hotel rooms with full board and toilet and shower en suite. If you’re travelling in a smaller group, there’s also the sunny lodge Lokatten, the Lynx, that’s in the yard of Ammarnäs Wärdshus.

Ammarnäs Wärdshus are fishing experts and offer gear and fishing guides for guests from all over the world.
