Nestled between Swedish Lapland’s majestic mountains overlooking Lake Torneträsk is Björkliden, in Europe’s last wilderness.

Few Swedish mountain resorts have the right to be called classic. Björkliden is definitely one of those few. The first tourists arrived here already in the beginning of the last century. They traveled along the newly constructed railway and they were pioneers of a then almost unknown world. For Björkliden this is an honorable heritage to manage, they have delivered great experiences since 1926 and don’t want to be an impersonal mass industry, instead remain a small and genuine resort. Björkliden suits you; regardless of age, whether you’re experienced or a beginner, if you just want to experience the wilderness or if you want extreme challenges. Lapland Resorts offers the following accommodation in Björkliden.

Hotell Fjället

Have a drink in the lobby bar, relax in front of the fire and enjoy the panoramic views of the mountain landscape.

Hotell Fjället, that now has a four-star rating, is beautifully located part-way up the mountain. Choose from comfortable accommodation in a single, double or family room. All rooms are equipped with WC/shower and cable TV. Here, you’ll also find the bar Rallaren and the sports shop where you can hire or buy everything you need during your stay in the mountains. Have a drink in the lobby bar, relax in front of the fire and enjoy the panoramic views of the mountain landscape.  The whole hotel has wireless connection and the lobby has a guest office with computers for hire. The hotel also has a range of conference rooms, a sauna and small gym. Next to the lobby, there is a playroom for the children.

Kåppas Cabin Village

Kåppas Cabin Village is located on the mountain slope with fantastic views over Swedish Lapland’s mountain world and the majestic Tjuonavagge (Lapporten). The cottages are located in direct conjunction to Hotell Fjället, Restaurang Lapporten and the bar Rallaren, with ski in/ski out to Björkliden’s ski area – perfect if you want to look after yourself and stay with nature around the corner. The newly renovated cottages have four to five beds distributed between two bedrooms, as well as a living room with a kitchen, a shower and WC, drying cupboard and cable TV.

Solhyllan log cabins

Solhyllan enjoys Björkliden’s best location with magnificent views over the mountain world. To create a genuine mountain feeling, the houses are built from rough timber in a natural style. The accommodation offers the highest level of comfort and a layout suitable for big groups that like to spend time together in seclusion. Lovely ceiling height (5 metres) in the kitchen and living room, heating stove, four bedrooms whereof three with double beds, sauna, two toilets, two showers, large patio with jacuzzi and dizzying views. The log cabins also have a TV, Wi-Fi, Blu-Ray player and iPad/iPhone dock.

Gammelgården Ski Lodge

Gammelgården, one of Björkliden’s oldest buildings, has an atmosphere and feeling that permeates the living room’s beautiful log walls. Gammelgården was originally an SJ (Swedish State Railways) building from 1909. Since 1926, when Björkliden became a tourist destination, Wärdshuset Gammelgården has been used as a mountain facility by agreement with SJ. It has been enjoyed for generations. Relax in front of the fire after a long day on the mountain or go for a nice and warming sauna before sitting down at a table in the cosy restaurant.

Låktatjåkko Mountain Lodge

Låktatjåkko Mountain Lodge is the gem of the mountain world and enjoys a spectacular location in a pass between two mountain peaks, 9 km from Björkliden. Here you can literally stay in the middle of the wilderness while enjoying the good things in life, like a hot sauna, gourmet food and a warming fire. Outside the door, there are lots of good ski tours and offpist skiing to choose from. If you just want to take it easy, relax with a book in the living room or enjoy the spring sun on a reindeer skin. The mountain lodge has 10 rooms for up to 18 guests and you can stay with comfort in a single or double room. There is also a restaurant, bar, lounge, sauna and toilet/shower. We promise you a memorable stay with good food and drink, high-class service and a relaxing environment.

Björkliden Camping

The camping, with connection to the service facility, is located next to the lifts. There are 100 camping sites, most of which are season sites, but we also offer a small number of short-term sites. Electric sites are 10A fuses and cable TV connection. The service facility has a TV, basic kitchen with hot plates, oven and microwave, shower, toilet and laundry facilities.

Aurora Village

This is a slightly different kind of accommodation up on the mountain with a chance to see the Northern Lights! Up in the mountains above Björkliden, a short walk from the hotel, with beautiful views of the vast landscape, are three small huts, traditionally used as portable ice fishing huts. They have been converted into cosy rooms for overnight stays with great opportunities for Aurora watching, away from distracting artificial lights. The Aurora guide will accompany the guests to the Aurora Village by snowmobile and provide a safety instruction for the accommodation. Here awaits an evening outdoors on reindeer skins by the warm fire, hoping to catch a glimpse of the beautiful Aurora Borealis, before cuddling up in a cosy sleeping bag in one of the huts. Breakfast will be delivered to Aurora Village before a snowmobile transfer will bring you back to Hotell Fjället.

Låktatjåkko, Sweden’s highest Mountain Station

One thousand, two hundred and twenty-eight metres above sea level is where you find Sweden’s highest mountain station: Låktatjåkko. It takes you a couple of hours to walk there from Björkliden and...
