An almost two day adventure on the frozen Baltic Sea to make you experience the archipelago of Piteå with new eyes.
Experience a world of several hundred islands, some of them with a very unique character and environment. Here you will experience the world’s most northern brackish water archipelago. Biking on the never-ending Baltic Sea on natural ice with just the horizon before you’re our eyes, this is a moment of happiness you need to expire.
Almost every time you get the opportunity to enjoy wild animals; big birds in the sky, reindeer visiting the islands during wintertime or moose eating from the bushes at the small islands. A bonus could be a meeting with the local people, who might give you the most exiting and unusual stories.
Your guide will pick you up at your accommodation for transfer to your starting point. Here you will be equipped with bikes, helmets and necessary safety equipment in a backpack. You start the tour in a comfortable pace and pedal to the outer archipelago far way from the city and into the quietness.
You stop for ”fika” or lunch breaks at suitable places, sitting on small reindeer skins. Waffles with cream and jam at Laxskäret or in a small archipelago cabin are a must. You stay the night in a small fisherman cabin where you together make a real archipelago dinner before relaxing in the cosy atmosphere.
After breakfast you pedal another route passing different islands. On one of them you might find a local resident who mostly is at site here in the outer archipelago for fishing, hunting and doing handicraft. You will be back at your starting point early in the afternoon, where the transfer takes you back to your accommodation.
