Arriving at Jokkmokk Winter Market where the gates to the 400-year- old tradition are opened, you’ll find yourself in the midst of Sami culture.

Meet the people of Sápmi, see their unique handicrafts of silver, tin, other metalwork and all kinds of reindeer products. Cultural events such as theatre, reindeer racing fill the market and make the visit a unique experience.

The contrast of the modern city Luleå and Gammelstad Church Town where its story began- the world’s most extensive and best preserved church town, is fascinating.

Day 1: Arrival in Luleå – Luleå city tour & Gammelstad church town

Arrival at Luleå Airport and upon arrival transfer and check in at our centrally located hotel. We’ll get to know the city of Luleå by bus and visit Gammelstad Church Town, where we’ll get a guided tour on foot of the best preserved church town in the world with more than 400 church cottages. Transfer to our hotel and we’ll enjoy a buffet dinner.

Day 2: Jokkmokk & Kiruna – Treehotel & Jokkmokk Winter Market

Early breakfast and transfer north. We’ll take a short break in Harads where we’ll get a guided tour of the site of Treehotel and enjoy Swedish Fika. The journey to Jokkmokk continues and you’ll be handed the market folder to read up about the forthcoming visit.

Arrival at Jokkmokk’s Winter Market 11.30.

Free time to explore the old market. We also suggest that you visit Ájtte – the Swedish Sami and Mountain Museum. 16.00 Transfer to Kiruna and upon arrival we check in at our hotel and later enjoy a buffet dinner at the accommodation.

Day 3: Kiruna – The old church of Lapland, Icehotel & Sami livelihood

After breakfast it’s time to explore the city of Kiruna – a city which has undergone the world’s biggest urban transformation, as a consequence of mining. Transfer to Old Church of Lapland in Jukkasjärvi followed by the world famous Icehotel where we’ll get a guided tour through the magical craftsmanship arising every year in the form of new designs. Lunch at Icehotel Restaurant. Transfer to Nutti Sámi Siida, a reindeer farm. We’ll take a sledge tour in the forest and get to know the life of a reindeer farmer and the old Sami livelihood. Transfer back to Kiruna and our accommodation where we’ll enjoy a buffet dinner.

Day 4: Departure from Kiruna

Breakfast. Free time in Kiruna. 12.00 – Transfer to Kiruna Airport. Alternative departures on request.
