In September 2025, Swedish superstar Zara Larsson released her album Midnight Sun – a tribute to the bright summer nights, especially in Arctic Sweden, where you can experience the true phenomenon of the midnight sun.
“I wanted the whole album to feel like it’s a summer night and it never ends,” she says. “A part of my soul is a Swedish summer night. This record encompasses that, how life is so beautiful it makes you cry”.
Zara Larsson travelled to Björkliden in the Kiruna mountains to film the music video for “Midnight Sun”. In the background, you’ll spot the iconic Tjuonavagge – arguably the most photographed view in the Swedish mountains. Check out the video below to see the midnight sun, and Zara Larsson, in action.
Arctic Sweden is packed with stunning national parks and hiking trails. Sitting on top of a mountain, watching the midnight sun paint the sky, is one of those “you had to be there moments”. Just you, nature, and a sun that simply refuses to quit. It’s something you need to experience for yourself.
Photo: Asaf KligerWhy head to bed when it’s still bright outside? If the sun refuses to call it a night, you don’t have to either. And honestly – when the midnight sun is out, you won’t want to waste a minute sleeping. Make the most of your time in Arctic Sweden and squeeze in double the adventure. Sleep is for later!
As Zara Larsson says: “If you go a few hours up north in Sweden, the sun never, ever sets, it’s in the sky 24 hours a day. And there’s something really special about that. I think I realised the nostalgia of growing up like that, and never really being able to fully sleep unless you have a really good line and being out all night! Because you never really get tired, because when it’s light all the time, it kind of fucks with your brain a bit.”
Tee time at midnight? No problem in Arctic Sweden during summer. Hit the course whenever you like. Will the midnight sun improve your game? We can’t promise that, but you’ll definitely play in style.
Pro tip: Try golfing across the border at Haparanda Golf Club, where you’ll cross between Sweden and Finland four times during your round – and maybe even score the world’s longest hole-in-one thanks to the time difference.
Or tee off in iconic Björkliden, with stunning views over Lake Torneträsk and the surrounding mountains – a must-try course on many golfers’ bucket lists.
With tens of thousands of lakes, mighty rivers, and an incredible coastline dotted with islands and sandy beaches, Arctic Sweden is a water lover’s paradise. And nothing beats a midnight swim under the midnight sun. The beaches here are some of the best in Sweden, and the water surprisingly warm during summer.
In Sweden, summer festivals are part of our DNA. Warm, bright summer nights were simply made for music festivals – and the brightest of them all are found in Arctic Sweden. Classics like the Kiruna Festival and Piteå Dansar & Ler are joined by Saltofolk, a folk music festival set against the stunning backdrop of Saltoluokta – and that’s just the beginning. There are plenty more festivals up here, each with its own unique vibe under the midnight sun.
Follow Zara Larsson’s lead and dance all night long under the midnight sun!
Wild animals are on the move at night – and when it’s bright around the clock, your chances of spotting them get even better. Seeing a moose in the wild is totally possible, and if luck is really on your side, you might even spot a bear. Eagles, foxes, deer, reindeer and other furry (and feathered) locals are also common sights out here.
In Arctic Sweden, if there’s water, there’s fish – it’s as simple as that. Salmon, trout and grayling fill the rivers, Arctic char rules in the mountains, and pike and perch are practically everywhere. Arctic Sweden is a fishing paradise, no doubt about it. And casting a line under the bright summer night? Not only is it soul-soothing, but the fish tend to bite extra well at night too.

Here, the sun doesn’t set – and neither do the memories.
At Aurora Sky Station, you can enjoy a culinary experience out of the ordinary. After ascending Mount Noulja by chair lift, you’ll sit down and enjoy an excellent three-course dinner inspired by Nordic cuisine. After that, it’s time for a short guided walk up to the summit. The guide will tell you all about Abisko and the midnight sun. From the summit, you’ll have a magnificent view of the surrounding mountains and lakes.
The Bothnian Bay, with its roughly 4,000 islands, is every paddler’s dream. Calm waters, endless coastlines and hidden beaches make it perfect for kayakers of all levels. And thanks to the magic of the midnight sun, you can paddle 24/7 for about 100 days during summer – golden light, glassy water and total stillness included. Pack a picnic, glide from island to island, go for a spontaneous swim, or simply drift and soak up the pastel-coloured sky.
Photo: Håkan StenlundIn Arctic Sweden, the sauna is a big part of our culture. In Swedish, we call it bastu. Many saunas are beautifully located right by the water, making the experience a perfect mix of wellness, fun, and tradition. Picture this: a calm, windless evening, the sun still shining, you take a refreshing cold dip and sip something cool to drink. It really doesn’t get much better than that.
